The owner and staff were wonderful from booking the event, to set up, to keeping the kids and parents engaged. Ruby was excellent with the kids and gave a comprehensive tour. She may be young, but she was a pro beyond her years. Noah was excellent at assisting with setup and keeping the kids occupied while we were waiting for food to arrive. Located on Rt. 9 in Toms River, it's an unexpected and well presented showcase of information about different insects from around the world with interactive exhibits and entertaining and informative displays. It's fun to see the enormous live insects moving through their habitats and watch visitors who are either squeamish, filled with wonder, or downright terrified as they realize that some of the bugs are actually ALIVE. We attended the museum last night because they were hosting a joint business networking event for the Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce and the Central Ocean Rotary Club. As an event venue, it was a welcoming and fun space that had plenty of ambiance to contribute to breaking the ice and getting conversations started. We loved it. Thank you! read less - 5/23/2024

Those who’s interested would know you can spend 2 to three hours in this place. The staffs were very kind to put on a demonstration and quick fun fact lectures of three insects when there were just 2 families there. I would recommend this for 1-6 years old. Museum and bathrooms spotless and clean. My 70yr old mom loved it, I loved it, and my 4 year old loved it! Especially the part where you get to touch the critters. I was actually pretty surprised and the level of detail the exhibits have. My kids had a great time learning about insects and even getting to experience and touch some live insects. It has ample parking space and the entrance fee is highly affordable. To know their summer hours, you can either visit their website or make a phone call. The place is impeccably clean and well-organized. While most of the insects are exhibited with detailed information, there are also engaging interactive displays. Majority of the bugs are not alive, but you can observe some live ones. My family had a great time visiting, and seeing our grandkids enjoying themselves made it all worth it. Additionally, there is a presentation which was enthusiastically delivered by a knowledgeable lady. She brought three insects for everyone to see up close and even touch if desired. It was highly educational. The place also offers handicap access. The restrooms are also very clean. You can stop by their small gift shop with cool stuff on your way out. Most of the insects that they have are on display accompanied by lots of information. They do have some live insects that you can see. As well as great interactive displays. During my visit with they did have someone bringing live bugs out for everyone to see up close and personal as well as touch. While the entire venue is not big by any means (the exhibits are built around a single loop), the displays, show, and super friendly staff make Insectropolis the perfect place to go on a rainy day (entirely indoors).
There are over two dozen terrariums with live insects which was pretty neat, but it was the expertly curated displays that stole the show in our opinion.
Upon careful reflection, the size of the venue is big relatively to the millions of insects they have on display; it is not a human world that the insects live in, but rather an insect world that we live in here at Insectropolis, and the venue does a great job at demonstrating that.
The displays are magnificent and does a great job at showing the immense variety and variations of insect species found in the world. I have no other words really to explain these displays but to just recommend that you all go see it for yourselves.
We arrived just as the show kicked off which was perfect. The show provided great information on insects as well as the presentation of live insects which guests can interact with on a limited basis (mainly petting with two fingers). In a way, the show almost served to lead us into the walking exhibits.
While Insectropolis is definitely great for kids, experiences will vary. We have 5 and 2 year old girls that breezed through the entire venue in less than half an hour and was bored. No fault or blame being placed, but it just so happened that their interest was not with the bugs during this time in their lives. read less - 4/13/2023
